LAWNI - Chapter 17


A blizzard strikes Miranda's town, dumping about four feet of snow in a short period of time. With gasoline in limited supply, its unlikely the roads are going to be plowed anytime soon.
  1. As the blizzard begins, where is Matt? Why doesn't mom allow Miranda or Jon to head towards town to look for Matt?

  2. Why is Jonny the only family member allowed to eat two meals per day? When Jonny discovers he is the only one who eats two meals, how does he feel about this?

  3. The snow provides one benefit to the family -- What is it?

  4. On p. 276, Miranda states "Right now I'm reading about the American Revolution. The soldiers had a tough time of it at Valley Forge. My heart bleeds for them." What is Miranda implying in this journal entry?

    1. Matt is at the post office working and mom does not allow Jon or Miranda to go looking for hime because mom dosen't want anything to happen to John or Miranda and she thinks it would be a long walk in the cold.

    2. Jonny is the only family member able to eat two meals a day is because he has to be strong and healthy for work. Jonny doesn't like it when he finds out nobody else is eating two meals a day beacuse he thinks that's not fiar for everybody to starve and not Jonny.

    3. The snow provids the family with ice and water.


    4. Miranda is implying that she is having a tuff time just like the soldiers are having a tuff time fighting.

    Matt is at the post office and mom dose not want them to get lost.

    Johnny eats two meals a day because he needs to be strong and he is not happy.

    The snow give water to them.

    They had a tough time in history and now they are having a tough time.

    1. Its started snowing and now it’s a blizzard and matt isn’t home and mom won't let Miranda go or Johnny goes get matt

    2. Mom thinks he should eat more to grow healthy and strong but when he figures out he is shocked he feels that he doesn’t deserve to eat

    3. The precipitation causes run off which causes ground water and accumulation

    2. She is comparing what there going through what every one is going to go through
    She is predicting what will happen
