Hunger Games - Chapter 25

Chapter 25 (p. 331-343)
The final tributes are chased to the top of the Cornucopia by a pack of wild wolf mutations signifying the dead tributes. The final confrontation with Cato takes place on the top of the Cornucopia as they fight of the wild dogs. Katniss sends Cato into the dogs with an arrow and ends his suffering by the dogs with an arrow to the head.

The dogs disappear. Another rule change rocks the game as the game continues with only Peeta and Katniss left. Who will win? Who will lose?

  1. What is chasing after the final three tributes?

  2. What about the dogs makes Katniss especially uneasy?

  3. What does Cato say to Katniss that gives her pause?

  4. How is Cato knocked off the Cornucopia?

  5. Why is Cato kept alive by the dogs? How does he die? How does Katniss feel about this

  6. Why do the games not end immediately after Cato’s death?

  7. What is Katniss’ plan? What happens next? Why do you suppose the games end this way?

  1. 1. Some weird wolf things...

    2. They have some of the dead tributes' features. (i.e. the eyes...)

    3. That if she moves any closer or bumps him, Pee will go down with him. O_O << SUSPENSE FACE!

    4. Pee knocks him off.

    5. He is being tortured, but nothing real fatal. And Kat felt like when she shot him, she did him a favor.

    6. They claimed that they had to kill each other first (APRIL FOOLS!!!)

    7. They planned to kill each other at the same time. However, that loudvoice guy came down and declared them the winners. I think he did that instead of letting them kill each other because he has another plan for them. Something probably disturbing and painful... O_O

  2. 1 Mutated wolf creatures are chasing the tributes.

2 The creatures look like the dead tributes in a way.

3 If she attacks Cato, Peeta will go down with him.

4 Katniss shoots an arrow at Cato's hand and he falls, but Katniss saves Peeta.

5 The dogs torture Cato in order to keep the games going on longer. Katniss kills Cato with an arrow.

6 They changed the rules again and said there could only be one winner.

7 Katniss and Peeta planned to eat poisonous berries at the same time. But if no one won the Capitol would be angry at the Gamemakers if no one won. Therefore they both won. I think its happier to end the story that way which is why it was done that way.

  6. 5- Cato is kept alive by the dogs because one the dogs are trying to tounture him and two Cato has body armour. Katniss most likley feels sorrow for Cato even if he is a bad person.

  7. 6- I think the games did not end because one the gamemakers rechanged the rule so there would only be 1 victor in the Hunger Games, and two the capital wants a more dramatic ending.

  8. 7- Well Katniss plan was to die with Peeta at the same time so there would be no victor by eating the posionous berries nightlock, this was so the capitol would look bad on their part. Also just before that happened Templeton yelled out telling that these were the two victors of the hunger games. I thought the game endeed this way because they did not want the capitol to have a bad image on their part of the Hunger Games
