Ender's Game - Chapter 5

“His isolation can’t be broken. He can never come to believe that anybody will ever help him out, ever. If he once thinks there’s an easy way out, he’s wrecked.”
  1. Why does Graff believe the statement quoted above?
  2. What is Dap’s function at this point? What does he remind us?
  3. What is the “bugger” of a launchie group? Why can’t Ender be considered that?
  4. If Ender wants to be accepted, why did he beat the older boy in the game?
  5. How did Ender defeat Bernard? Was this method more or less effective than the way he beat Stilson

  1. 1. He needs to be hardened up. NOT TOO HARD THOUGH!

    2. He is a mom, and he reminds me of a toned-down mom only in a male form.

    3. The outsider of the group. Ender doesn't like that role.

-Mr. BuNgLe is a collective human being made entirely of pencil shavings!

  2. 1- That if they keep him to long with the new launchers he will not be as strategic.

2- To basically be the mom for the new launchers . also Dap reminds me as Tam Lin.

3- Ender is the bugger. I think Enders is considered to be a bugger because he is different than the other launchies.

  3. 1 Ender needs to be strong and not need help all the time, he has to always expect the worst and be prepared for it.

2 Dap is playing the role as the Mom he could be interpreted as a leader.

3 A bugger of a group is the kid that sits alone and doesn't talk like an outcast.

  4. 4. To be shown with a source of respect. HE PWNED THAT KID!

    5. He made him interested in donkeyholes. And it was about as affective as his treatment with Stilson, because it still damaged his popularity.

  5. 4 Ender would gain popularity by showing off a talent.

5 Ender sent offensive emails with Bernard's account, resulting in Bernard losing followers. It was better than beating up Stilson, Ender did not get caught for that.
