Life As We Knew It - Chapter 8

This chapter continued to deal with change and loss, particularly people leaving Miranda's life, at least in the short term. Dad and Lisa are moving, Dan is being sent off with his father to strike out on his own and Sammi is running off with her forty year old boyfriend.

There is an interesting contrast in this chapter. Mom is doing everything she can to keep Matt, Jonny and Miranda healthy and the family together while her friends are departing for the good of those who stay behind in Pennsylvania. Others leave with the hope things are better in the south.

  1. Why does Sammi leave town with forty-year-old George? How does Miranda feel about this?

  2. What is Dan's father's plan for Dan? Why do you think he is doing this?

  3. How has the changing weather effected animals at the farm Jonny had to work at?

  4. Jonny is the first to verbally express the idea "Are we all going to die?" How does everyone at the dinner party respond to this?

  5. If you were Miranda, what options about the future might you be considering at this point?

3 comments:

  1. 1. Because she wants to leave town and George is Sammi's boyfriend (EVEN THOUGH HE COULD BE HER LOST FATHER). And Miranda isn't too comfortable about it.

    2. Dan didn't see Miranda by the pond recently. And I think he's doing this because he's sick of MIRANDA'S DRAMA! I DON'T BLAME HIM! IF I WAS HIM, I WOULD'VE LEFT HIM AFTER A FEW DAYS!!!!! AAAAHHHH!!! HOW DOES GUY--I MEAN DAN DO IT! SHE'S SO NEEDY AND CLINGY!!! OH SO AGGRAVATING!!!!!!!!

    3. They got bony and really thin, due to their environment being switched around a lot.

    4. First, they tried to handle it with good, ol' fashioned sarcasm. But once the question was officially unraveled, they tried to answer him, but Lisa acted like a whiny punk, saying "I DON'T WANNA DISCUSS THIS!" She's JUST LIKE GEORGE! I HATE BOTH OF THEM AND I HOPE THE MOON CRASHES INTO THEY'RE HOUSE AND RICHARD SIMMONS WORKS OUT WHILE THEY'RE GOING "AAAHHH! REAL MONSTERS!!! YIPPY KY-YAY!"

    5. I would build a shack to isolate myself from whiny people like Lisa and sick pedo's like George. I would play Pong on the Atari until everything went back to normal. So really, I would just do the Ghandi treatment JUST BECAUSE OF LISA AND GEORGE!!! I HATE THEM!!!! THEIR NAMES MAKE ME WANT TO THROW UP MY INTESTINES, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF READING! (No disrespect).

P.S. Miranda used the same damn catchphrase "...best day in ages..." WHY DOESN'T SHE MAKE UP HER MIND! IF YOUR READING THIS, GUY, YOUR GIRLFRIEND'S A FAT MORON WHO IS TOO DAMN INDECISIVE! SHE'S ALMOST AS ANNOYING AS LISA'S FAT WHINY @$$! AAAAHHH! THIS BOOK ANGERS ME!!!!!!!!! IF SHE LOVES BECKY SO MUCH, WHY DOESN'T SHE JUST MARRY HER?!?!??!?

SaNcHo is beating George up at the playground at 5:30PM TODAY! (Tickets for sale at Ticketmaster. Front row: 25.00$, middle: 15.00$, back: 8:00$.

  2. 1 Because Sammi's got a forty year old boyfriend!!!!>:D

2 All families need to seperate to survive, so Dan and Miranda can't see eachother anymore.

    3 They were't healthy

4 They tried to handle it calmly but everyone still believes death is on its way.

5 Just try to live the old fashioned way!

  3. 1- That is because when George takes Sammi to Nashville she will dump him and be free. I also think that Miranda is a little worried about this.

2- To take Dan to California to his sister. I think he is doing this because he does not want Dan see his mother die.

3- I can not find this one?

4- They said "not in the immediete future", or " you are a strong boy".

5- I would be trying not to worry so much because that can cause deppresion, and deppresion can make you sick.
